Coordinator, Outreach and Engagement
Contract (October 2011 – March 2012)
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Outreach and Engagement, the Coordinator of Outreach and Engagement is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing Nature Canada’s online and offline marketing and outreach programs aimed at connecting children and their families with nature. The Coordinator of Outreach and Engagement will work closely with the Manager, Outreach and Engagement to develop and implement online marketing and outreach programs that engage participants in multiple experiences in nature. S/he will coordinate the promotional aspects of the Nature Explorers program. S/he will develop targets and identify key online channels to aid in the growth of Nature Canada’s youth engagement program.
Job Description and Duties:
• Develops, implements and maintains outreach and engagement activities for the My Parks Pass program and the Nature Explorers program. Activities could include:
o Maintaining the My Parks Pass website
o Updating a Facebook page for the My Parks Pass program
o Promoting the My Parks Pass program on Twitter
o Coordinating the creation of online ads for the My Parks Pass and Nature Explorers programs
o Outreach to external blogs to attempt to earn media attention from bloggers (either as a guest blogger or to get a blogger to write about Nature Canada’s youth engagement programs)
• Coordinates the development and implementation of marketing and promotional materials for the My Parks Pass and Nature Explorers programs
• Prepares reports on achievements and results for the outreach activities
Summary of Qualifications and Experience:
• 1-3 years experience in communications or online marketing
• A college diploma or university degree in a related field
• Strong knowledge of web 2.0 tools and social media
• Solid online writing, editing and communication skills
• Demonstrated experience using website CMS (Drupal preferred)
• Demonstrated experience using online social networking sites and online communities
• Knowledge of the latest trends in social media and online marketing
• Creative and able to develop new and innovative ideas
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work in English and French as required
